Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed his willingness to work with the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in addressing governance challenges in Nigeria.
Speaking on Thursday, March 13, in Bauchi during Obi’s visit to the Presidential Lodge, Mohammed described the former Anambra governor as the “leader of the opposition” and emphasised the need for collaboration beyond political, religious, or regional lines.
“I want to say at this level not to make some of those doubting Thomases and mischievous minds pre-empt what we are doing, that I’m ready to work with Peter Obi,” Mohammed stated.
“We will make sure we come together, close ranks, bring good governance to the country, give vibrant opposition with knowledge, timelines, visions in such a manner that we will rescue and recover our country.”

Obi, in his remarks, said his visit was part of consultations on national issues, given Mohammed’s role as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum. “It’s just a consultation and discussion meeting that will continue to go on as we talk about the future of this country,” he said.
“The North is a critical component if we are going to get it right in this country. There is poverty in Nigeria. We have to deal with the issue of poverty, and until you solve poverty, then you can talk about criminality.”
The two leaders held a closed-door meeting for over three hours before addressing thepress.
