The family of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has directed his widow, Omowunmi Adebanjo, to stop using the Aloba surname until a court-ordered DNA test confirms the paternity of their son, Liam.
Represented by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and family head, Omolayo Aloba, the family stated that no statutory or customary marriage was contracted, as required Yoruba rites, including the payment of the bride price, were not completed.
The family emphasized that Wunmi Adebanjo will only be recognized in matters of estate administration once paternity is verified.
The directive applies to all public and private records, including financial, legal, and estate-related documentation.

Administrators have been appointed to manage Mohbad’s estate, including royalties, bank accounts, and intellectual property.
Mohbad, a rising Afrobeats star, died on 12 September 2023 in Lagos at 27, prompting national mourning and renewed calls for a transparent investigation into his death.
