Veteran actress Moji Afolayan has broken her silence on why she left the spotlight for over ten years.
Her sudden withdrawal from Nollywood had sparked concern among fans who wondered what had become of the respected film star.
In a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, Moji Afolayan revealed the reason: she was “blacklisted by film marketers after refusing their sexual advances.”
The fantastic role interpreter known for her principles, explained that her refusal to compromise her values led to a deliberate attempt to sideline her.
“Before now, marketers used to give producers money to work. But because I refused their sexual advances, they held a meeting among themselves and agreed not to call me for work.”
Moji said she stood firm in her decision, even though it came at a personal cost.
“I did not sleep with any of them because I can’t trade my body for films. It’s my principle. I know they will watch this interview.”
She added that some married actresses gave in to such demands, sometimes even with their husbands present at the location.
“Many of those doing it will go with their husbands and have them wait outside while they go inside to meet marketers. I’m exposing their secrets now.”

According to her, many of those women went on to become well-known faces in the industry.
“Marketers made them stars. Their posters were all around.”
Despite the consequences of limited roles, reduced income, and fading public presence Moji said she has no regrets.
“But I thank God that I stood with my dignity. That is what I am enjoying today. They denied me movie roles because I didn’t offer myself for sex. Although it affected my income and fame, but I cherish my body more than every other thing. Even my husband knows.”
With Nollywood’s shift to digital platforms, Moji believes the control marketers once had is weakening.
“They now know how it feels because they have made us social media friendly. We now push our movies on YouTube without any marketers.”
Moji Afolayan is married to fellow actor Ojopagogo.
