A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to campaign for re-election on the strength of his administration’s achievements rather than political rhetoric.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, August 3, the publisher of Ovation Magazine argued that Nigerians will ultimately judge the President by his record in office.
“The 2027 election will not be difficult for Tinubu if he can show the records of his performance. Nobody hates him personally. Nobody wants to pick him out because they just don’t like him. It is about performance.
“Present your scorecards. So the people running around spreading hellfire, calm down and spread that energy on showing the performance of APC,” Momodu said.
He also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for repeatedly blaming previous administrations for the country’s current economic and governance challenges.
According to him, the party’s continued criticism of its predecessors raises questions about what it has done differently since assuming power.

“What we see is APC abusing itself and its predecessors, saying they inherited a useless government and economy. I have never seen a place where a party destroys its own predecessors like APC,” he said.
“Now, let’s assume President Tinubu inherited a bad government. What has he done to change the direction of his predecessor and change the lives of the people?”
Momodu also commented on the long-running political disagreement between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
His remarks followed Obasanjo’s recent statement that choosing Atiku as his vice president was the biggest mistake of his political career.
Reacting, Momodu suggested that the former president remains opposed to Atiku’s ambition of becoming Nigeria’s president.
He claimed Obasanjo does not want Atiku’s presidential aspiration to succeed.
The comments come as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general election. Atiku Abubakar is the ADC’s presidential candidate, while Peter Obi is also contesting the presidency on the ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
