Moses joins Spartak Moscow on loan

Nigerian international, Victor Moses, has again been shipped off to another loan from Chelsea after he joined Spartak Moscow for a season-long loan deal.

1stnewsonline.com gathered that the winger, who had an impressive loan spell with Inter Milan, failed to secure a permanent deal with the Serie A club.

Moses was crucial for Antonio Conte aide, who narrowly lost last season Europa League title to Sevilla.

Chelsea, in a statement on their official website, confirmed the winger’s move as he was not part of Frank Lampard’s plans.

The 29-year-old Moses first moved on loan to Fenerbahce in January 2019 and scored five times in 23 appearances during his year in Turkey.

Spartak Moscow confirmed the loan deal which includes the option to buy the player via their official Twitter handle.

“Spartak Moscow and Chelsea have agreed the transfer of Nigerian star Victor Moses to our club.

“The loan agreement with the 29-year-old midfielder is until the end of the season with the option to buy!

“Welcome, Victor!”

Moses had won the Premier League title and FA Cup at Chelsea.

He also made seven starts and 13 sub appearances, one of those off the bench coming in that Europa League final, which was narrowly lost to Sevilla.

His previous loan spells since joining Chelsea in the summer of 2012 include Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United.

He made 128 Chelsea appearances and 18 goals to his name, plus 38 caps and 12 goals for Nigeria.

Moses retired from international football after the 2018 World Cup.

The Russian side are 10 games into their league season and sit second in the table, level on points with city rivals, CSKA Moscow.

In his first words after completing his loan move to Spartak Moscow, Moses labelled the Russian Premier League giants ‘one of the greatest clubs in Europe’.

With 22 titles to their name, Spartak Moscow are the record winners of the Soviet Top League / Russian

Premier League, and have lifted the Soviet Cup/Russian Cup on thirteen occasions.

Former Chelsea star André Schürrle, Manchester United defender, Marcos Rojo, ex-Arsenal midfielder Kim Källström and 2013 AFCON winner, Emmanuel Emenike, are among the notable players who have represented the Red-Whites in the past.

Speaking to Team Moses Media shortly after his move to Spartak Moscow was confirmed, Moses said: “Hello guys, it’s a great pleasure for me to sign for Spartak, one of the greatest clubs in Europe.

“I cannot wait to get started to meet my teammates. It’s going to be an interesting season. Come on Spartak!”
