MultiChoice Nigeria has cut the price of its DStv decoder by half from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000 in a fresh push to attract more subscribers amid a drop in its customer base.
The company disclosed the new pricing in a statement on Tuesday, by the Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe, explaining that the move is part of efforts to reward customer loyalty and offer more value.
“We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day.
“The ‘We Got You’ campaign is about making premium content more accessible and showing that DStv offers something for everyone, not just football fans.”
Ugbe said the company is repositioning DStv as a platform for “daily value,” with a focus on a broad range of content including movies, drama, kids’ programming, and news.

“By repositioning itself as a platform for daily value, DStv aims to encourage content discovery across a wider array of genres… This means more channels, more shows, and more reasons to tune in every day,” he added.
In addition to the price cut, MultiChoice is also offering a temporary promotional deal. Subscribers who pay for their current package in full between June 16 and July 31, 2025, will receive a free upgrade to the next package tier.
The company noted that the new offers were introduced in response to the noticeable economic impact on the everyday lives of Nigerians.
The move comes after MultiChoice lost around 1.4 million subscribers between March 2023 and March 2025, a period marked by three separate price hikes on its DStv and GOtv packages, introduced in April 2023, November 2023, and again in May 2024.
