Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, is on the verge of returning to the English Premier League with West Bromwich Albion set to sign him on a short term deal.
Musa’s contract was terminated in October by Al Nassr and has remained unattached to any club.
The Baggies have requested a visa for the winger and have also scheduled him for a medical on Wednesday.
The Super Eagles captain failed to impress in his first stint with Leicester City.
After a soaring career that saw him score 55 goals in 167 appearances for Russian side CSKA Moscow, Musa was signed by Leicester City in 2016.
However, things did not work out for him at the King Power Stadium, as he struggled to get first team jersey making just 21 appearances for the Foxes.
The former CSKA Moscow winger was loaned back to CSKA for the second half of the 2017/18 campaign.
He was later sold to Al Nassr in January 2019 and played 62 times in all competitions before being released.
Meanwhile, West Brom manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that the Baggies are interested in signing free agent Ahmed Musa in the January transfer window.
With only 15 goals scored in 19 Premier League matches, Allardyce is in the market for a striker and is believed to have turned his attention to Musa as it would be difficult to sign Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke and Newcastle United’s Andy Carroll in this window.
Musa’s fitness will be assessed and if the striker is in good condition, he’s expected to put pen to paper on a short term deal until the end of the 2020-2021 season.
Speaking to reporters at Monday’s press conference ahead of the meeting with Manchester City, Allardyce replied when asked about Musa : “He’s not here yet. He’s a person of interest and when he
arrives we’ll alert everybody and let them know”.
Musa appeared in 33 matches across all competitions, scoring 5 goals, during an eighteen-month spell with Leicester City before he was sold to Al-Nassr after starring at the 2018 World Cup.
