Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed, widely known as Bella Shmurda, has alleged that he was defrauded in a $4 million property transaction in Lagos after discovering that the ownership of the property he purchased was in dispute.
The singer made the disclosure on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, during an Instagram Live session, where he expressed distress over the development and appealed for assistance.
Bella Shmurda said he was shocked to learn that the person who sold the property to him allegedly did not have legitimate ownership rights over it.
He claimed that the money involved represented years of personal effort and expressed concern that he could lose the investment.

The singer also alleged that the individual behind the transaction had become unavailable after receiving payment, leaving him seeking answers over the deal.
While speaking during the livestream, Bella Shmurda said he had already reached out to his legal team to commence investigations into the matter and explore possible remedies.
He did not identify the alleged seller, disclose the location of the property, or provide further details about the agreement or documents involved in the transaction.
The allegation remains a claim by the singer and has not been independently verified. No response had been issued by the alleged seller, relevant government agencies, or any other party connected to the transaction as of the time of this report.
The development highlights ongoing concerns surrounding property transactions in Nigeria, where buyers are often encouraged to conduct proper ownership checks and verify documentation before completing major real estate purchases.
