NAF Strikes Sambisa Forest, Neutralises Multiple Terrorists

The Nigerian Air Force has carried out a fresh round of airstrikes targeting terrorist positions in the Yuwe axis of the Sambisa Forest, resulting in the death of several insurgents.

In a statement released on Tuesday, April 21, in Abuja, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was executed under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI.

He noted that the strikes were based on credible intelligence, supported by Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, which confirmed the presence of terrorists occupying fortified hideouts and bunker systems in the area.

According to him, NAF aircraft deployed precision-guided munitions to engage the identified targets, leading to the destruction of key structures, the elimination of multiple fighters, and the disruption of logistics networks sustaining their activities.

Ejodame stated that the continued intensity of air operations is significantly weakening terrorist formations, forcing them into disorganised and reactive movements under sustained military pressure.

He added that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has reiterated the Air Force’s determination to sustain intelligence-led operations until insurgent groups are fully dismantled.

“We remain committed to the protection of our personnel, the security of our nation, and the safety of all citizens,” Aneke said.

“The NAF will continue to intensify precision engagements across the theatre, maintaining decisive operational pressure while adhering strictly to rules of engagement and minimising civilian harm,” Aneke added.

The latest strike underscores ongoing military efforts to dismantle terrorist enclaves within the Sambisa Forest and restore security across the North-East.
