The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has dismantled two illegal alcohol production operations in Lagos State, seizing counterfeit and adulterated beverages valued at approximately ₦350 million.
The agency made this known in a statement shared on its Facebook page on Wednesday.
According to the agency, the crackdown followed credible intelligence that led enforcement teams to raid facilities at Zamfara Plaza in the Trade Fair Complex and parts of Lagos Island.
During the operations, officials recovered more than 1,800 cartons of fake alcoholic products ready for distribution.
At the Trade Fair Complex, operatives uncovered makeshift production lines where counterfeit drinks were being manufactured.
The site contained plastic mixing tanks, improvised filtration systems, empty branded bottles, corks, and packaging materials, all used to replicate popular alcoholic brands.
In a related operation on Lagos Island, authorities arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the production and retail distribution of adulterated beverages.

The products recovered at both locations have been confiscated and moved for further regulatory action.
NAFDAC warned that the consumption of fake alcohol poses severe health risks, including poisoning, organ failure, and death.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to tracking down and prosecuting individuals involved in such illicit activities.
It also urged the public to remain vigilant by purchasing alcoholic beverages only from authorised outlets and reporting suspicious products or operations to the nearest NAFDAC office or through its toll-free hotline.
