The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons says it will investigate allegations of child sexual abuse and misconduct at a daycare run by the mother of singer Simi Kosoko, following public concerns raised on social media.
The agency made the announcement on Tuesday, February 24, via its official X page, asking anyone with credible information or evidence to come forward.
The controversy began after an old tweet by the singer about children at her mother’s daycare resurfaced online, with some social media users interpreting it as inappropriate. The post has since sparked widespread discussion and criticism.
In its statement, NAPTIP said it treats all reports involving child abuse seriously and is prepared to launch a full investigation once it receives verifiable information.

“Public Notice: We take all reports of child sexual abuse/misconduct seriously and are committed to investigating every credible claim,” the notice read.
“Following recent public discussions and concerns raised regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse/misconduct in daycare settings in Nigeria, we are committed to thoroughly investigating credible report.
“We kindly request anyone with factual information, evidence, direct knowledge, or who was personally affected by the matters referenced in the viral posts or related experiences to kindly reach out to us confidentially. Via DM or email us info@naptip.gov.ng.”
The singer has responded to the allegations, saying her old tweets were not intended to be taken seriously and reflected nothing more than the playful tone of a young woman who had nothing to hide.
She denied any inappropriate intent behind the posts.
