The National Assembly has revised certain items in the 2025 Appropriation Bill following errors detected in the capital and recurrent expenditure lines.
While the total budget remains ₦54.99 trillion, capital expenditure has been reduced by over ₦500 billion, with the same amount added to recurrent expenditure.
On Tuesday, February 18, both the Senate and House of Representatives made corrections to budget figures for several ministries, departments, and agencies, some of which saw increases, while others were reduced.
Francis Waive, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, explained the revisions were necessary due to errors identified by the Joint Appropriation Committee.
“The final figure of ₦54.99 trillion, as well as the statutory transfer of ₦3.64 trillion and ₦14.32 trillion, remain unchanged. The recurrent (non-debt) expenditure of ₦13.56 trillion and the capital budget of ₦23.44 trillion were affected,” Waive said.

Budget estimates for the Ministries of Defence, Police Affairs, National Pension Commission, and several other agencies were adjusted, with some figures revised upward.
Ministries such as Agriculture and Food Security, Works, Labour and Employment, and Health saw increases in their 2025 fiscal year budget proposals.
Waive stressed that the revisions were necessary to address errors in the document compilation by the Joint Committee and assured that the ₦54.99 trillion budget size would remain unchanged.
