Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has said she’s holding off on resuming at the National Assembly on the advice of her legal team and out of respect for institutional procedures.
She told African Independent Television (AIT) that she wants to receive the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the court judgment before taking any further steps.
In response to concerns over her absence from Senate proceedings, Natasha said she remained busy with outreach across her constituency, pushing ahead with various projects and sustaining work on her key initiative the Gold Reserve Bill.
Security presence at the National Assembly heightened after her initial declaration to return to plenary on the 8th of July, 2025.
Officers conducted thorough checks on vehicles at the entrance, with patrol vans stationed around the complex.

Though the court called her suspension “excessive and unconstitutional,” a legal review dated July 5 by Senate counsel Paul Daudu, SAN, argued that the ruling did not specifically compel the Senate to reverse the suspension.
“I remained active throughout. These are personal initiatives I was hoping to finish the gold bill and move on to others like lithium and red mineral legislation. I can’t simply hand them over to others,” she said.
Natasha stressed her continued dedication to legislative work and development in Kogi Central and across the country.
While she awaits clarity on her Senate status, she made clear that her work won’t stop.
“I believe in the judiciary, I’m not giving up,” she added.
