Nathaniel Bassey Offers Prayers, Calls Support For Nigerian Troops Fighting Terror

Popular gospel singer and worship leader, Nathaniel Bassey, has offered prayers and words of encouragement to Nigerian soldiers and members of the armed forces currently serving on the frontlines of the country’s security challenges.

In a message shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, Bassey said his thoughts and prayers were with the men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces who continue to serve the nation in difficult and often dangerous conditions.

The gospel minister said the country owes a deep debt of gratitude to soldiers who risk their lives daily while confronting violent groups and protecting the nation’s territorial integrity.

“Today, we remember and pray for our soldiers and men and women of the armed forces, especially those in the trenches and line of duty, fighting and paying the ultimate price for us,” he wrote.

Bassey also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the families of military personnel, noting that spouses, children and relatives of soldiers often endure long periods of separation and emotional strain while their loved ones serve in volatile regions.

He expressed sadness over the frequent reports of attacks on troops and the loss of lives among military personnel but said he remained encouraged by their courage and determination to continue defending the nation.

“My heart aches at the news of attacks against them and the losses they incur,” he stated, adding that the resilience of the troops inspires hope that they will overcome the threats confronting the country.

Drawing from biblical references, the singer prayed for divine protection and strength for the soldiers, declaring that they would overcome forces of terror and evil threatening Nigeria.

He further called on the Nigerian government and citizens to provide greater support for the military, emphasising the need for technical, financial, moral and psychological assistance for troops carrying out critical security operations.

According to him, sustained support through prayers and practical assistance would reassure soldiers that the nation stands firmly behind them as they confront security threats across the country.

Bassey also paid tribute to fallen soldiers, saying their sacrifices should never be forgotten and expressing hope that their legacy would contribute to building a stronger and more peaceful Nigeria.

The message comes at a time when security forces continue to battle insurgency, banditry and other forms of violent crime in different parts of the country, with many Nigerians regularly expressing solidarity with troops serving on the frontlines.
