The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has directed all domestic airlines to introduce a special assistance request option in their ticket reservation systems within seven days from Friday, January 30, 2026.
The measure is designed to make air travel more accessible for passengers with disabilities and Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRMs).
Under the directive, airlines must include a clearly identifiable feature on both online and telephone booking platforms, allowing passengers or their representatives to indicate any special requirements before purchasing tickets.
Airlines are also expected to actively prompt travellers about possible assistance needs during the booking process.
The NCAA stressed that advance notification will ensure passengers receive proper support at every stage of travel, including check-in, boarding, and arrival.

Airlines that fail to comply within the seven-day period could face regulatory penalties.
The authority said the move strengthens previous guidance and is part of broader efforts to align Nigeria’s aviation sector with global standards for passenger inclusivity and accessibility.
Officials noted that the new timeline is aimed at achieving consistent compliance across the industry.
Consumer advocates have welcomed the directive, saying it will help airlines plan ahead and reduce delays or inconvenience for travellers requiring special assistance.
