The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced plans to begin publicly naming and shaming airlines that fail to comply with aviation regulations, particularly in cases of flight cancellations and delays.
The agency said the measure is aimed at improving service delivery and ensuring that operators are held accountable for persistent breaches that inconvenience passengers.
According to the NCAA, domestic and international airlines operating in Nigeria will be closely monitored, and any violations of consumer protection rules will be made public.
The authority said passengers have the right to timely information, adequate compensation and proper care in the event of disruptions, and warned that non-compliance would no longer be tolerated.

Officials explained that the initiative is part of broader reforms to strengthen oversight of the aviation sector and protect consumer rights.
The NCAA has in recent months received an increasing number of complaints from air travellers over abrupt cancellations, extended delays and poor communication from airlines.
The agency said the new “name and shame” strategy would not replace sanctions already provided for in aviation laws, but would serve as an additional deterrent to compel airlines to improve service.
