The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has announced plans to conduct an Elementary Application of Fire Exercise for cadets of the 75 Regular Course from April 10 to April 12, 2025.
This was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Major Mohammed Maidawa.
According to the statement, the live-fire training will be held at the NDA Open Range located in Afaka, Kaduna State, and is aimed at providing cadets with hands-on experience in tactical firing scenarios.
“The primary objective of the exercise is to expose cadets to practical live firing, thereby enhancing their tactical proficiency and developing their firing skills,” Maidawa explained.

To ensure public safety during the exercise, the NDA has issued an advisory to residents in nearby communities. Farmers, herders, and other individuals are urged to avoid the training area throughout the duration of the drill.
“Strict safety protocols will be in place, and unauthorised personnel will not be permitted access to the firing range,” the statement added.
The NDA also appealed to the media and community leaders to help disseminate the information to ensure broad awareness of the safety precautions in place.
“We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the surrounding communities as we conduct this essential training activity,” Maidawa stated, reaffirming the Academy’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with local residents and ensuring public safety during its operations.
