Senator Henry Seriake Dickson has intensified efforts to reconcile aggrieved stakeholders within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following a meeting with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and senior party officials.
Dickson disclosed in a statement on his Facebook page on Tuesday, that he hosted Kwankwaso and members of the party leadership at his residence as part of ongoing mediation aimed at strengthening unity within the party, particularly in Kano State.
According to him, the discussions centred on ensuring a harmonious relationship between NDC officials in Kano and the party’s leader in the state, who also serves as its vice-presidential candidate.
The senator noted that the NDC is rapidly emerging as a major opposition force in Nigeria and that disagreements are inevitable in any expanding political movement.
He said the party has continued to address such challenges through dialogue, consultation and reconciliation, adding that similar efforts have been undertaken in different parts of the country over the past several months.
Dickson also dismissed claims of candidate imposition within the party, insisting that the NDC has consistently allowed democratic processes to determine its candidates, including in Bayelsa State.
He described the meeting as fruitful and expressed optimism that all parties involved would continue to work together in the collective interest of the party and its electoral ambitions.
The former Bayelsa governor further highlighted his longstanding political relationship with Kwankwaso, noting that their association dates back to their years in the Peoples Democratic Party, where both served as governors.

He said they have maintained close ties over the years through regular consultations on national and political issues and pledged to continue working together for the growth of the NDC.
Dickson also acknowledged the role of support groups such as the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the Obidient Movement, describing them as valuable grassroots mobilization platforms for the party.
He revealed that steps are being taken to integrate members of both groups into the party’s structures across the country in an orderly and coordinated manner.
Reaffirming the party’s inclusive stance, Dickson said the NDC remains open to all Nigerians who share its vision, stressing that the party is committed to building a strong and enduring political institution that is greater than any individual member.
He commended party members, stakeholders, volunteers and support groups for their continued support and dedication to the growth of the opposition party.
