The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has begun accepting applications for its 2026/2027 Foreign Master’s Postgraduate Scholarship, offering eligible candidates an opportunity to study abroad under a fully funded scheme.
The announcement was made on Monday, March 23, through a notice shared on the commission’s official X platform, which outlined the application timeline and requirements.
It said, “Applications open on March 23, 2026, and close on April 19, 2026.”
According to the NDDC, the initiative is designed to build capacity among youths from the Niger Delta by providing advanced education that aligns with global standards and supports participation in Nigeria’s local content development.
Prospective applicants must hold at least a second-class upper degree or its equivalent and must not be older than 40 years.
Applications are to be submitted online via the commission’s website at www.nddc.gov.ng with candidates required to upload key documents such as a passport photograph, Local Government identification, admission letter from an overseas institution, academic certificates, and proof of NYSC completion or exemption.

After submission, applicants will be issued a registration number and are expected to retain a printed acknowledgement for reference.
The selection process will begin with a preliminary screening based on academic credentials and origin.
Candidates who make the shortlist will proceed to a computer-based test in Rivers State, where they must score at least 70 per cent to qualify for the next stage.
Further evaluation will involve verification at the local government and community levels before final beneficiaries are selected.
The scholarship covers tuition and related costs at foreign institutions, with funding tied to the current exchange rate of the naira.
Priority will be given to candidates from oil-producing states in the Niger Delta, including Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers.
The commission added that successful candidates will not be allowed to change their course or institution after selection.
It also emphasised that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted, while final decisions remain at its discretion.
