The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has confirmed the release of ₦392,876,550 in student loan funds to Delta State University, Abraka.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Sunday, the 15th of February, 2026, NELFUND disclosed that the disbursement will support 1,854 students of the institution, easing financial burdens and enabling them to concentrate fully on their studies.
“Delta State University has received a students’ loan disbursement from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) totalling ₦392,876,550.00.
“Number of Beneficiaries: 1,854 students.
“This will alleviate financial challenges and support students’ academic pursuits”, the statement read.
An official correspondence shared alongside the announcement, titled ‘Acknowledgement of Students’ Loan Disbursement’, showed the university formally recognising the payment.
In the letter addressed to the Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND, DELSU Registrar, Mrs Rufina Ofio, conveyed appreciation on behalf of the institution’s leadership.

“On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel O. Asagba, I formally acknowledge the receipt of the students’ loan disbursement from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
“This funding, received on 13th January 2026, supports 1,854 students and totals ₦392,876,550.00.
“This assistance will significantly alleviate the financial challenges faced by the beneficiaries, allowing them to concentrate on their studies.
“We commend NELFUND for its dedication to improving access to education in Nigeria. We sincerely appreciate this support and look forward to continuing our collaboration towards the enhancement of educational development.”
The development underscores NELFUND’s sustained efforts to expand financial access to tertiary education nationwide, ensuring that students are not denied academic opportunities due to economic hardship.
