NELFUND SHOCKER: Beware of Fraudulent Student Loan Portal

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a critical public advisory regarding a deceptive message currently circulating online that falsely claims the NELFUND Student Loan Registration Portal is open.

This malicious message attempts to steer applicants toward an unauthorized third-party link, specifically (http://gvly.xyz/Nelfund-Student-Loan), which NELFUND has officially confirmed is “unauthorised and fraudulent.”

In a direct post obtained from its X handle on Tuesday, the 18th of November, 2025, the agency strongly cautioned students and the general public:

NELFUND urged students and the general public “not to click on the link or provide any personal information,” emphasizing that the authentic loan registration portal is exclusively accessible through the Fund’s verified communication channels (The official NELFUND website is nelf.gov.ng and the portal is portal.nelf.gov.ng).

As part of its ongoing measures to protect applicants and ensure the integrity of the process, the agency reminded students to exercise extreme “caution online” and immediately report any suspicious communications or links that claim to originate from NELFUND.

The statement concluded by providing necessary guidance for applicants seeking legitimate information: “Applicants are encouraged to always verify official announcements via NELFUND’s official website and social media channels,” NELFUND said.
