Netizens Slam Father For Carrying Dog While Child Walks On Hot Pavement

A photo of a man carrying his dog while his young child walked beside him has sparked widespread debate across social media, drawing millions of reactions and sharply divided opinions.

The photo cited by First Daily correspondent on Thursday, captured a young man carrying his dog like a child while his son, between the ages of 4 and 5 years old, was seen walking.

Many netizens were quick to criticise the father, questioning why he chose to carry a pet instead of his child.

Some argued that a child’s comfort and safety should always take priority, with critics labelling the moment as an example of misplaced priorities.

In a video posted on social media, the man whose name wasn’t identified explained the circumstances behind his decision.

According to him, the ground beneath them was extremely hot—hot enough to potentially burn exposed skin. While his child was wearing shoes and walking comfortably, the dog had no such protection.

Concerned about the risk of injury to the animal’s paws, the father chose to carry the dog instead.

The explanation prompted a wave of comments on Facebook supporting the man’s actions, particularly pet owners, who pointed out that dogs are highly vulnerable to hot pavement.

Many noted that surfaces like asphalt and concrete can reach temperatures capable of causing burns within seconds, making the man’s decision a practical and compassionate response.

Despite this, the debate has persisted. Some maintain that, regardless of the situation, a parent should prioritise carrying their child.

Others argue that the father made a logical choice based on immediate need, emphasising that the child was not in distress.

The viral moment has since evolved into a broader conversation about parenting decisions, empathy, and the speed at which people form judgments online.
