Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Kenya and Somalia, Ambassador Danlami Ibrahim, has presented his Letters of Credence to the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.
Ibrahim presented his credentials to President Mohamud during a ceremony held at Villa Somalia in Mogadishu, the Somali capital.
The development was disclosed by Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement posted on its official handle on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, the Nigerian envoy, who is based in Kenya and concurrently accredited to Somalia, conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Somali president.
“The High Commissioner-Designate of Nigeria to Kenya, with concurrent accreditation to Somalia, Ambassador Danlami Ibrahim, has presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, at the Villa Somalia in Mogadishu,” the ministry stated.

During the ceremony, Ibrahim reaffirmed Nigeria’s determination to deepen diplomatic engagement and strengthen bilateral ties with Somalia.
The envoy also conveyed President Tinubu’s greetings to Mohamud, underscoring the importance Nigeria attaches to its relationship with the Somali government.
The presentation of Letters of Credence formally marks the commencement of Ibrahim’s diplomatic responsibilities in Somalia in addition to his duties as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Kenya.
Nigeria and Somalia maintain diplomatic relations across areas including security, trade, development, education and regional cooperation, particularly within African multilateral institutions.
The diplomatic engagement also comes as both countries continue to participate in regional and continental efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability and economic development.
The Nigerian government is expected to continue using its diplomatic missions to strengthen cooperation with Somalia and other countries in the region, while advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives under the Tinubu administration.
