The maiden Nigeria International Airshow (NIA) has officially begun, drawing global attention to Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The event opened on December 2, 2025, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, and will run through December 4.
The Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, in collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory Administration, said the airshow is aimed at positioning Nigeria as a key player in African and global aviation.
Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, described the event as a decisive step toward attracting investment, boosting infrastructure, and strengthening the country’s aerospace capabilities.
Arik Air, Nigeria’s national carrier, is among the headline exhibitors.
The airline said it will use the platform to showcase its evolving brand, reinforce its market position, and engage with international aviation stakeholders.
The airshow features static aircraft displays, aerial demonstrations, business-to-business meetings, and seminars.
Organizers say it is designed not only to showcase aircraft and technology but also to create opportunities for partnerships in aviation, defence, cargo, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.

Key participants include aircraft manufacturers, defence contractors, financiers, regulators, and investors from across the globe.
The event is also expected to serve as a hub for foreign direct investment in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The Federal Government provided regulatory and infrastructural support, while private sector sponsors handled the funding.
Keyamo said the collaboration highlights the efficiency of public-private partnerships in advancing national aviation development.
Organisers hope the airshow will become an annual fixture, offering Nigeria a consistent platform to engage international players, showcase innovations, and foster growth in the country’s aerospace sector.
