Nigeria and Kuwait are poised to sign multiple agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral relations during a high-level visit from Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, who arrived in Kuwait on February 5, 2025.
This historic visit, running through February 8, marks the first time a Nigerian Foreign Minister has visited Kuwait since the establishment of diplomatic relations 55 years ago.
Tuggar, according to his media aide Alkasim Abdulkadir, will engage with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Ambassador Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, in strategic talks.
Key agreements set to be signed include the Joint Commission for Cooperation, a Bilateral Consultations MoU, and a Diplomatic Training Cooperation MoU.
These agreements are designed to fortify diplomatic ties, boost capacity building, and expand cooperation in areas like trade, technology, and agriculture.
Tuggar is also scheduled for high-level meetings with Kuwait’s Prime Minister, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
He will meet with other top officials, including Kuwait’s Minister of Petroleum, Tariq Suleiman Al-Roumi, and the Director-General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Waleed Al-Bahar.
In addition to official discussions, the Minister will attend a business lunch with prominent Kuwaiti business leaders and investors.
This visit is expected to significantly deepen Nigeria-Kuwait relations, fostering new opportunities for collaboration.
