Nigeria Safer, Tinubu Misunderstood — Ribadu Hits Opposition at Summit

In a sharp rebuke of critics, National Security Adviser (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu on Wednesday defended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, describing the country’s current state as safer, more stable, and increasingly primed for investment under his administration.

Speaking at the National Cybersecurity Conference 2025 in Abuja, Ribadu dismissed persistent criticism of the government as the “rantings of expired political figures” with outdated ideas and dismal records in public service.

“Things are changing. We are stabilising the country. Forget what some people are saying — Nigeria is safer and better every single day,” Ribadu said, insisting that detractors who underestimate Tinubu’s capacity do so “at their own peril.”

The NSA praised Tinubu as a “digital, educated and visionary leader,” asserting that proactive reforms and strengthened collaboration among security agencies have led to major improvements in national safety.

“Niger Delta is safer than ever before. The South-East is returning to normalcy. Those fueling unrest from abroad will be tracked and prosecuted,” he vowed.

Ribadu also called out members of the opposition and some media voices, accusing them of clinging to a past riddled with corruption.

“These are people who looted and plundered this country. Now they are shouting on television. They are outdated. Nigeria has moved on — and Nigerians are wiser,” he said.

Reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to cybersecurity and digital growth, the NSA urged tech partners and international investors to seize opportunities in what he described as Africa’s “emerging digital and economic hub.”

“We are working with major telecom operators. Our cybersecurity strategy is strong. Nigeria is safe and open for business,” Ribadu declared.

He concluded by calling for unity, trust in current leadership, and a collective focus on national progress: “The future of Nigeria is bright. Let’s not let expired voices derail that.”
