A 26-year-old Nigerian man, Ayowale Aledejana, has been stabbed to death in an apartment in New Cross, southeast London, prompting a murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
Emergency services were called to Monson Road at about 7:30 pm on Saturday, August 2, 2025, following reports of a stabbing. Despite efforts by paramedics and an air ambulance crew, Aledejana was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following swift investigations, two suspects were arrested and later charged in connection with the incident. Ben Wazabanga, 23, of Fairfax Road, Bedford, has been charged with murder and possession of a knife. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 4.
Similarly, Ronique Belfon, 23, of Morinsbury Road, Bedford, has been charged with murder. She is also remanded to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 4.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, has appealed to anyone with information or witnesses to come forward to assist the inquiry.
A post-mortem examination conducted on Sunday confirmed that Aledejana died from a stab wound to the chest. The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
The victim’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
