Amaechi to Nigerians: Stop Tinubu’s 2027 Bid or ‘Die of Hunger’

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has urged Nigerians not to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, warning that another term under the current administration would worsen the country’s struggles.

Speaking to members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition in Rivers State on Wednesday, July 23, Amaechi said the future of the nation depends on mobilising against the ruling party ahead of the next general election.

According to him, “Currently, Nigerians are complaining in President Tinubu’s first tenure; imagine what the second tenure will be like. Then, you’ll be dead and buried.”

He called on ADC supporters to begin grassroots mobilisation and voter registration in earnest, stressing the importance of preparing for 2027.

“We are new members of the ADC, it’s the adopted party of the coalition. Most importantly, have your eyes on 2027 and to have your eyes on 2027, please go home and start registration,” he said.

Amaechi also decried election malpractice in Rivers State, alleging that the state has become notorious for rewriting results. He encouraged the party’s members to challenge such practices head-on.

“Our (Rivers) state is notorious for writing results, and we must stop them from writing results. When they said that they have already written results, it discourages voters from coming out,” he said.

He emphasised the need to restore public confidence in the electoral process. “We should encourage people to come out and vote for the removal of the current government or we will all die of hunger,” he added.

Amaechi’s comments come as political tensions rise and opposition groups begin aligning ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
