NIMC Begins Nationwide Ward-Level NIN Enrollment

National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has unveiled a fresh nationwide initiative to take National Identification Number (NIN) registration directly to communities, announcing plans to roll out ward-level enrolment centres across Nigeria.

The move was disclosed in a statement by the Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, who revealed that the programme will kick off on the 16th of February, 2026. He noted that the rollout follows a presidential directive mandating the expansion of NIN registration services to every ward in the country.

As outlined in the statement, the registration exercise will be conducted at no cost and is open to all Nigerians and legally resident individuals, including children, to ensure their inclusion in the National Identity Database.

NIMC stated that the ward-based approach is designed to bring its services closer to the people, enhance convenience, and eliminate the challenges associated with travelling long distances to enrolment centres.

The Commission further disclosed that comprehensive ward schedules for the exercise can be accessed via its official website. It also encouraged the public to reach out through its toll-free customer service line for additional information.

Reiterating its commitment to building a robust national identity framework, NIMC called on Nigerians to utilise the opportunity to register and secure their NIN.
