No Gov Can Oppose Tinubu in 2027, Says Kaduna Governor

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has stated that it would be difficult for any Nigerian governor to oppose President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, citing the president’s unprecedented support for state governments across the country.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day interactive session on government-citizen engagement held at Arewa House, Kaduna, Governor Sani commended President Tinubu’s approach to governance and national inclusion. The event was organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) under the theme “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Unity.”

“No president in Nigeria’s history has supported governors and sub-national governments the way President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently doing,” Sani said.

“As a result, it is unlikely that any governor in Nigeria would go against the president.”

The Kaduna governor also highlighted what he described as a historic shift in national security strategy. According to him, for the first time, the federal government is engaging with non-state actors in northern Nigeria to evaluate challenges and explore pathways to sustainable peace.

“This unprecedented approach reflects a shift in how national issues are being addressed,” he noted, praising the federal government’s inclusive style of governance.

President Tinubu was represented at the session by Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, established in 2009, is a non-political and non-religious organisation dedicated to preserving the legacy of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first premier of Northern Nigeria. The foundation continues to promote dialogue and policy engagement aimed at national unity and development.
