No Tension in Anambra: APGA Slams ‘False Alarm’ Ahead of Tinubu’s Visit

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has dismissed reports of growing tension in Anambra State ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit on May 8. The reports, which have circulated in some media outlets, suggested a potential clash of interests between the ruling APGA and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, following the announcement of the President’s visit.

However, the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, strongly refuted the claims, describing them as “baseless” and part of a deliberate attempt to incite unnecessary panic. In a statement issued on Sunday, Obigwe stated that the reports were fabricated by a “pay-as-you-go writer” seeking to justify financial incentives received from the APC.

According to Obigwe, Anambra State is peaceful and calm, with residents eagerly anticipating President Tinubu’s visit to commission key projects initiated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. He emphasized that the visit is not politically motivated but rather a recognition of the governor’s achievements.

“The people of Anambra are already set to welcome President Tinubu to celebrate Governor Soludo’s accomplishments in office. This gesture will serve as an encouragement for other governors to emulate Soludo’s remarkable work,” Obigwe noted.

He highlighted that under Governor Soludo’s leadership, Anambra has witnessed unprecedented progress, which he believes warrants celebration. Obigwe pointed out that no previous administration in the state has achieved as much in such a short time.

While dismissing the tension narrative, the APGA chieftain accused the APC of attempting to manipulate public opinion by buying support for its own political agenda. He stated, “The writer spreading these falsehoods is clearly part of the APC’s plan to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in Anambra.”

Obigwe concluded by reiterating that the people of Anambra are in a celebratory mood, with widespread support for Governor Soludo’s second-term bid. “As of today, the prevailing sentiment among Anambra voters is ‘one good turn deserves another,’ which reflects the overwhelming backing for the Governor’s re-election campaign,” he added.
