North plotting to oust Tinubu from 2023 presidential race – Yoruba Council

…says ‘they’re planning to give Tinubu, Awolowo, Abiola’s treatment’

A socio-political group, Yoruba Council Worldwide, popularly known as Igbimo Apapo Yoruba Lagbaye, on Sunday, accused the Northern political class of perfecting plans to scheme the All Progressives Congress’ presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, out of the 2023 presidential race

President-General of the Council, Aare Omoluabi Oladotun Hassan, made this allegation at a press briefing in Abuja.

According to Hassan, the Council was reliably informed of the existence of a plot to reenact the political treatment meted to two Yoruba sons, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Chief MKO Abiola, to facilitate the emergence of the flagbearear of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar as the country’s president in 2023.

He alleged that Northern politicians and power brokers took the decision to pursue Tinubu’s disqualification through the Independent National Electoral Commission after their plot to impose Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the APC “consensus” presidential candidate.

Hassan added that a plan existed to launch a media campaign of calumny against Tinubu over his missing academic certificates, warning that the Council would not tolerate ‘premeditated treachery’ against the APC presidential flagbearear.

He said, “We warn against the ensuing and deadly political card by the Northern supremacist and sectional interests, specifically targeted at forcing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) out of the way in order to pave way for a Northern presidential candidate of another political party.

“We are fully inundated with details of their deceitful and clandestine operations to desperately and forcefully bring in through the back door Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and back him to emerge as President come 2023.

“The Yoruba Council Worldwide wishes to inform that we shall not tolerate any clandestine motive to repeat the evil machinations meted against Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Chief MKO Abiola both of whom were politically wrecked by the power thirsty Northern supremacists who are hell-bent to retain power in the North under any political party divide.”

The Yoruba Council warned alleged Northern ethnic chauvinist to desist from subterfuges that will make Nigeria a Northern courtyard.

It restated it’s confidence in Tinubu to would provide solutions to Nigeria’s myriad of problems from 2023.
