Northern Govs Forum Appoints Ezekiel Gomos as Director-General

The Northern States Governors’ Forum has confirmed the appointment of former Plateau Secretary to the State Government, Ezekiel Gomos, as the new Director General of its Secretariat.

The announcement came from the Forum’s Chairman, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State, who handed Gomos his appointment letter and said the choice reflected a commitment to strengthening regional cooperation.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, December 9, by the Director General of Press Affairs to the Gombe Governor, Ismaila Misilli, the new role is described as “a strategic step towards repositioning the Secretariat as a more effective hub for policy coordination, collective action, and long-term development planning.”

The statement added that Gomos is “an accomplished development economist and policy expert with a distinguished career spanning public service, governance reform, private-sector development, and human capital advancement.”

It further noted that “Gomos has held senior roles in key institutions such as the New Nigeria Development Company and the West African Examinations Council.”

The document also highlighted his role as Lead Consultant and Head of Faculty at the Jos Business School, which focuses on leadership training, entrepreneurship development, and policy dialogue.

It said, “For nearly two decades, Mr Gomos has served as a resource person at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, contributing to the training of senior leaders across Nigeria in policy, strategy, and national development.”

Gomos holds degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom.
