Northern Leaders Meet in Kaduna to Evaluate Tinubu’s Two-Year Performance

Key political, traditional, and business figures from Northern Nigeria gathered in Kaduna on Tuesday to evaluate President Bola Tinubu’s performance two years into his tenure.

The high-level meeting is being held at Arewa House, the former residence of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello.

It was convened by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, a socio-political organization dedicated to preserving the legacy and ideals of the late Sardauna.

Titled “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizens Engagement for National Unity,” the two-day conference has drawn participants from the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Among those in attendance are former governors, ex-ministers, traditional rulers, technocrats, religious leaders, and civil society representatives—reflecting the region’s deep interest in its role under the current administration.

Although the official discussions have been largely civil, multiple reports indicate that concerns over perceived marginalisation of the North, particularly in federal appointments, project distribution, and resource allocation, are likely to dominate private conversations throughout the event, which continues on Wednesday.
