Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as the club’s new Head Coach, with a contract running until the summer of 2027.
In a statement released on Tuesday via the club’s official X handle, Forest said Dyche’s appointment followed a comprehensive recruitment process led by Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, and Global Technical Director, George Syrianos.
The statement noted that Dyche, a former Forest youth player, will take charge of his first match on Thursday night when the Reds face FC Porto in the Europa League.
Dyche will be assisted by Ian Woan and Steve Stone — both former Nottingham Forest players who made over 400 appearances for the club during the 1990s.
Describing him as “a respected and experienced Premier League manager,” the club said Dyche brings the perfect combination of tactical discipline, character, and proven achievement to lead Forest into a new era.

“Having managed more than 330 Premier League matches in his career, Dyche has built teams defined by defensive organisation, resilience, and strength from set pieces — qualities that align closely with the current squad’s attributes and the Club’s footballing identity,” the statement read.
The club also emphasised that Dyche’s local roots and past association with Forest would help reinforce the values and pride of both the team and its supporters.
Dyche’s appointment comes shortly after the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, as the club looks to stabilise its performance across domestic and European competitions.
