In a sweeping crackdown on infrastructure sabotage, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Yobe State has arrested 17 individuals for allegedly vandalizing electrical installations, telecommunications masts, and other vital public assets.
The revelation came from AS Dandaura, Commander of the General’s Special Intelligence Squad, during a press briefing in Damaturu.
He detailed how an intelligence-led clearance operation unearthed three hidden warehouses brimming with stolen materials. These illicit storage facilities were strategically positioned at Pilgrim Nassarawa bypass, Dujiya behind the new market, and Abari bypass—all within the state capital.

Amid the crackdown, security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend the suspected ringleader, Aliyu Ajakuta, notorious as the “Chairman” of the local Scrap Dealers Association.
Recovered loot from the raided warehouses paints a troubling picture of industrial-scale theft. Items seized include telecommunications masts, Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), bags of armoured cables, rail track slippers, solar panels, and high-capacity batteries.
The NSCDC has reiterated its resolve to combat vandalism and safeguard critical infrastructure. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as investigations continue, with the arrested suspects set to face prosecution.
