Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Oyo, on Monday, paraded eight suspected motorcycle snatchers in Ibadan.
NSCDC State Commandant disclosed to newsmen that one Mr. Adeyi Olalekan, 25 years (M), who lives at Awososo Area, Bembo Apata, was stopped by one of the suspects at 0630hours on Sunday 12th July, 2020 to take him to transformer in Iyana Cele, Apata NNPC Area from Awososo.
The suspects later attacked the motorcyclist with locally made gun and knife before snatching the motorcycle.
One of the suspects fell from the bike, he was pursued and was caught at Johnson Awe Ara Apata by men of the NSCDC in that Area.
Akinsanya said that the remaining suspects were later apprehended by the Intelligence and Investigation Department.
The suspects are: Mustapha Suleiman, 35; Sanni Ataka, 37; Sarafadeen Amodu, 29; Muktaka Gambo 17; Abubakar Ibraheem, 27; Haruna Adamu, 28; Ado Adamu, 29 and Lamidi Saidu 28 years.
The suspects were arrested with one local gun, six handsets, one NIMC ID card, three red boxer motorcycles with the following Registration Numbers: OSUN BDS 725 QR, OYO MNY 929 QM, OGUN JGB 136 WF.
The state Commandant commended the people of the area for supporting the security agency in apprehending the suspects.
He called for more support from the people of Oyo State in exposing criminal elements in their neighbourhood by giving timely information to NSCDC and other sister agencies in the state to curb crime and criminality.
Meanwhile, the NSCDC has warned residents against dumping of refuse and building on water ways across Oyo State.
NSCDC State Commandant, Iskilu Akinsanya, gave the warning during the awareness campaign against dumping of refuse, road accident, fire outbreak, building collapse, COVID-19 and flood disaster in Ibadan metropolis and other local governments across the state.
He warned residents of the state against dumping of refuse in the drainage and building along the waterways during this rainy season.
The sensitization on disaster management was carried out at Bodija, Agbeni, Ogunpa, Idikan, Molete, Oja Oba, Beere and Yemetu to mention but a few.
