NUPENG shut down service in Niger over killing of member 

AMINA ANEBI, KADUNA

The Nigerian Union of Petroleum And Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, has shut down service in Niger State to protest the alleged killing of one of its members by a military personnel.

During a press conference in Kaduna on Wednesday, the zonal Chairman of the Union, Dahiru Bala Ayuba said the union has directed all its members in all petroleum stations in Niger State to down tool and withdraw their services until justice is served on the matter.

The union, according to him, also directed all tankers drivers not to deliver any petroleum products meant for Niger State until the state government and the military properly address the issue.

The union, therefore, said they have already written a letter of protest to Niger State government, military and the Nigerian Police, requesting for proper investigation into the matter and ensuring that the culprit was brought to book.
