A section of Nigeria’s federal workforce has been left unpaid for the month of June 2025 due to what government officials have described as “technical network glitches,” particularly affecting civil servants whose salaries are routed through Zenith Bank.
In an official statement issued Friday, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) addressed growing concerns over the delay in salary disbursement, acknowledging the issue and assuring swift corrective action.
According to the spokesperson, Bawa Mokwa, the OAGF launched an immediate probe after receiving numerous complaints from federal employees.
The inquiry revealed that a system disruption during the bank’s salary processing cycle was to blame for the failure.
“The salary payments for employees across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies were affected due to a technical network glitch during the processing of salaries at the bank,” Mokwa confirmed in the statement.
The development has sparked unease among affected workers, who rely heavily on timely payments to meet their financial obligations.
Recognizing this, the OAGF apologized for the disruption and called for calm while the issue is being resolved.

“We understand the anxiety and frustration this has caused. The welfare of federal employees remains our top priority,” the statement read.
“Concrete steps have already been taken to isolate the problem, and reprocessing of failed payments is already underway.”
The OAGF also emphasized its commitment to transparency and efficiency in payroll operations and pledged ongoing collaboration with banks and service providers to avoid future disruptions.
While no specific timeline was given for the resolution, the agency urged affected staff to remain patient as efforts intensify to ensure the outstanding payments are made without further delay.
This incident comes at a time of heightened economic pressure for many Nigerians and adds to growing public scrutiny of administrative efficiency within federal systems.
