The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, have scheduled the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting for Tuesday, April 9, in Abuja.
This was announced in a statement issued on Monday, April 7, by Ibrahim Umar, spokesman of the Peter Obi Media Reach.
Umar said the NEC meeting would be followed by an interactive session involving key stakeholders and other party organs.
According to him, those expected at the gathering include Obi’s 2023 running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, sitting and former senators, and all senatorial candidates from the 2023 elections.

Also invited are current and past House of Representatives members and candidates, members of the National Caretaker Committee and the National Transition Committee.
Others expected are former governorship candidates who are still with the party, representatives of the NLC/TUC Political Commission, and members of the former National Working Committee.
Umar explained that the meeting, jointly called by Obi and Otti, was necessary to clarify the implications of the recent Supreme Court judgement.
The apex court ruled on Friday that the Court of Appeal lacked jurisdiction to intervene in the internal affairs of the Labour Party.
