Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi has said he would increase power generation if elected president in his first term or leave office.
He made the vow while speaking at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles to flag-off his US speaking tour.
“I will increase power generation in five years. This is not a guarantee. I am saying if I don’t do it, I will leave the office,” Obi said.
Obi said that other countries like Egypt, which he recently went to understudy, had increased their power supply, lamenting that even South Africa declared a state of emergency in their power sector for being insufficient even while producing 50,000 megawatts of power, while Nigeria which generates a meagre 4,000 megawatts for over 200 million people, has not declared any emergency.
