The Obidient Movement has urged the Federal Government and security agencies to track down and prosecute those responsible for the murder of Justice Azuka, a former lawmaker representing Onitsha North I Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Dr Yunusa Tanko, the movement’s national coordinator, condemned the killing in a statement on Friday. He recalled that the group had earlier called for Azuka’s release after his abduction on December 24, 2024.
“However, it is unfortunate that Hon. Azuka’s body was found lifeless in the wee hours of Thursday by security operatives beside the road at the Second Niger Bridge,” Tanko said.
Azuka was reportedly abducted while distributing aid and palliatives to his constituents for Christmas.
“It was then that he was kidnapped along Ugwunaobankpa Road, Inland Town, Onitsha, and later murdered in such cold blood,” Tanko added.

He emphasised that the growing insecurity underscored the need for urgent reforms in the security sector, stressing that protecting lives and property is the government’s primary responsibility.
Tanko called on the Federal Government, the Anambra State Government, and security agencies to ensure that those behind the murder are brought to justice.
“We extend our fellowship to the family at this time—the mother, wife, children, and the entire Onitsha community—for this irreparable loss.
“He was a great and loving man. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
