Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on December 3, 2025 approved an automatic scholarship scheme for the best graduating students across the four universities owned by the state.
The policy grants full postgraduate scholarships to the top graduating student of each academic session at Delta State University, Abraka; University of Delta, Agbor; Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba; and Southern Delta University, Ozoro.
Under the scheme, each beneficiary will receive full funding to pursue Master’s and PhD programmes at accredited Nigerian universities.
The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to developing human capital and promoting academic excellence across Delta.

The Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Dr Godfrey Enita, said the scholarship will be awarded annually, provided recipients complete the standard documentation required to access the funding.
The policy is expected to foster healthy academic competition among undergraduates and reinforce Delta State’s position as a centre for educational excellence.
