The umbrella body of Ijaw youths, the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, has commiserated with the Yoruba nation over the sudden death of the spokesman for Afenifere, Comrade Yinka Odumakin.
The IYC, through its National Spokesman, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe described the death of the pro-democracy activist as a shock and a great loss not just to the Yoruba nation, but to every nation within the Nigerian state calling for the restructuring of the country.
Ekerefe noted that Ijaw youths drew admiration from Odumakin because of his unrepentant advocacy for a restructured Nigeria that would reflect the principles of equity, fairness and justice, which are the fundamental reasons the IYC was founded.
He said, “It is painful that Nigeria has lost a voice to the voiceless, a nightmare to anti-democratic actors, whose sudden demise is coming at a time leadership has failed this country at all levels and his input and thoughts to nation building would have been needed the most.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, especially his brave wife, Joe-Okei Odumakin and the entire Yoruba nation over this great and irreplaceable loss.”
