Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Hassan died at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, at the age of 66, according to a burial announcement issued by fellow veteran actor Jide Kosoko.
Kosoko announced the actor’s death in a statement posted on his Instagram page, adding that his remains would be transported to Ilaro on Sunday ahead of the burial and prayer rites scheduled for the following day.
The statement read, “With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of ALHAJI TAIWO HASSAN, popularly known as OGOGO, who passed away at 3:00 p.m. today Sunday, 23rd August 2026. At 66 years.
“His remains will be taken to his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State today where special prayers will take place at the pavilion Ilaro tomorrow
“Date: Monday, 24th August 2026
“Time: 11:00 a.m.
“Venue: Pavillon, Ilaro, Ogun State.
We pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and gives his family, friends, colleagues and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace. Ameen.”
A separate burial notice shared by Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, also confirmed that the late actor would be buried on Monday.
