Ogun State Government on Monday prosecuted about 50 residents for violating the protocol on the use of face masks in public places in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The violators were made to do community service after they were arraigned at the mobile court at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan.
They were sentenced to two hours of community service for their offences.
The state government had earlier threatened to arrest and prosecute those violating face mask protocol, saying that it would take effect from February 22.
The taskforce, which began the enforcement of the law on Monday, arrested violators around the state secretariat in Oke-Mosan.
Fifty persons were later arraigned before the mobile court.
