The Ogun State government has announced the launch of a thorough investigation into the recent road crash that killed 10 people and left three others with serious injuries.
A commercial bus carrying 15 passengers reportedly fell off the Omu bridge along the Awa Ijebu stretch of the expressway on Friday, the 4th of July, 2025.
In response, the Commissioner for Transportation, Olugbenga Dairo, described the crash as a deeply painful incident. He offered his sympathy to the families affected and said the tragedy could have been avoided.
He said, “We are saddened by the tragic accident that occurred, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the deceased during this very difficult time. No words can fully capture the sorrow of this moment.”

According to Dairo, the investigation would help shape future safety plans aimed at reducing road hazards.
He said the state would scale up efforts through its agencies by improving road signs, enforcing speed limits more strictly, and encouraging safe driving habits across major roads.
He also stressed that the current administration under Governor Dapo Abiodun would continue to prioritise safety. He mentioned ongoing partnerships with the Police, FRSC, transport workers, and other relevant groups to enforce traffic rules and avoid such incidents going forward.
