The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 50-year-old farmer, Alfa Mustapha, whose lifeless body was discovered on his farm in Ageri Village, near Olodo, in Odeda Local Government Area.
Mustapha was found dead after a police search team combed his farm following reports of his disappearance.
According to the Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha, the deceased had gone to his farm on Saturday morning but failed to return home. Concerned about his whereabouts, the Imam reported the matter to the Olodo Police Station at about 6:30 p.m.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday.

Odutola explained that at around 6:02 p.m., the Imam went to the farm, where he discovered Mustapha lying face up with his cutlass beside him. Upon receiving the report, the police visited the scene and confirmed that the victim was dead, though no visible signs of violence were initially detected.
“The scene was documented with photographs, and the corpse was evacuated to the General Hospital, Odeda, for medical examination,” Odutola said.
However, a medical assessment later revealed that the deceased had suffered bullet wounds from pellets, indicating he was shot at close range. His body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for further forensic examination.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. He assured the public that those responsible would be brought to justice.
