Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, says the Peoples Democratic Party will win next year’s governorship election in Ogun State.
Adeleke, who was the PDP flagbearear in the July 16 Osun governorship election, defeated incumbent Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola, by 28,344 votes.
Adeleke, while addressing party supporters in Abeokuta on Friday at a reception organised by the PDP for its new members, boasted that Governor Dapo Abiodun would get the “Osun treatment” in the 2023 governorship election in the state.
The defectors were former members of the APC, Labour Party, Allied Peoples Movement, Peoples Redemption Party, Social Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress.
They were received at the party secretariat in Abeokuta by the state PDP Chairman, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele; Adebutu and other zonal leaders of the party in the state.
In his remarks on the occasion, Adeleke, who was represented by the former PDP South West Secretary, Reverend Bunmi Jenyo, said the party had exposed APC’s electoral fraud in Osun, boasting that similar winning strategy would be replicated in Ogun in 2023.
The governor-elect added that after the PDP’s Osun victory, the ruling APC still went to the Tribunal, but expressed confidence that he would be victorious.
Adeleke said “Like we did in Osun, we are going to repeat the feat in Ogun state. We have exposed all their electoral fraud. We bringing to Ogun state the winning strategy.
“Because we have defeated them in Osun they are still embittered, they went to the Tribunal, but we will still defeat them again.
“They did one thing that we are going to be ready for them in Ogun, they went and hacked the server. They are rogues, APC (members) are rogues, from head to toe and we are going to win them. We won them in Osun and we are going to win in Ogun state.”
The Osun governor-elect described the PDP governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu and his running mate, Adekunle Akinlade, as a perfect match capable of unseating the ruling APC in Ogun.
Adebutu, in his remarks, lamented the spate of insecurity, unemployment, kidnappings, bad roads, and lack of quality healthcare services in the state.
The PDP governorship candidate described his party as the biblical Noah’s ark that would take Ogun residents to the promised land in 2023.
He assured the defectors of fairness, saying, “Everyone has equal rights in this party and our Permanent Voters Card (PVC) is our way to freedom.
“We all know that all is not well with governance in Ogun State. Don’t be deceived by this government, we are going to give them the Osun treatment.”
Former Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Tola Banjo, who led defectors from former Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s camp, said, “Be assured that after sweeping for a long time, we are now under umbrella.
“You won’t regret this. With this development, Dapo will be sacked in 2023.”
