Ogun Govt Steps In as Triplet Dad Abandons Hospital

The Ogun State Government has stepped in to cover the medical expenses of Temilola Adediran, a 19-year-old who recently gave birth to triplets at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Lantoro, Abeokuta.

Temilola, who was preparing for her Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) before her pregnancy, gave birth to the triplets naturally.

The father reportedly fled the hospital after learning of the delivery.

On Thursday, the 24th of July, 2025, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, led a team from her ministry including Permanent Secretary Mrs. Jumoke Adewole on a visit to the hospital following public appeals for help.

During the visit, Adeleye settled the mother’s hospital bills and gave cash gifts to the newborns. Other mothers in the ward also received various items.

She said, “We are here this morning because we heard that a woman delivered triplets and the husband has absconded. We couldn’t have been here if not for the support and mandate that has been given to us by a man that God has put at the helm of the affairs in Ogun State, and he’s Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON.

“All children in Ogun State matter to him. He’s very concerned about them, whether they have parents or not. The governor is committed to their welfare, and when we heard this, we just had to be here. We are here because the governor has directed us to care for all children in the state.

“Seeing the mother here today, all I can say is that it is a miracle.”

Adeleye also commended the hospital’s staff for their care and professionalism, acknowledging the leadership of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Arifalo Olawole.

She added that the government’s support would go beyond childbirth, promising continued assistance and access to empowerment programs that could help Temilola sustain herself and her children.
